5 Ingredient Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies March 25, 2013

I’m always terrible about wanting to bake things but not having all the ingredients. Imagine my surprise when I found this recipe for 5 ingredient cookies! I was a little unsure at first but after making them I think I might have to live by these cookies. Not only were they so easy to make, they were so good! I got the original recipe here:





  • I cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Mix all the ingredients except the chocolate chips.
  3. After it’s blended together mix in the chocolate chips
  4. Roll balls about 1 1/2 inch big (I just eyeballed mine and they turned out fine) and place onto an ungreased cookie sheet. (the original recipe called for parchment paper, I used cooking spray and it worked fine)
  5. Bake for 9 minutes (cookies are done when they start to crack on the top)



Bailey’s Irish Cream Brownies March 16, 2013

Happy almost Saint Patrick’s Day everyone! I was feeling like making a dessert last night and felt like it was close enough to Saint Patrick’s Day to make it an Irish dessert! These brownies turned out AMAZING warning: they are incredibly addictive! I got the original recipe here. Give them a try:


  • Brownie Mix
  • 1/2 cup Bailey’s
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons Bailey’s
  • 1 teaspoon brewed coffee
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


  • Mix the brownies mix, 1/2 cup Bailey’s, vegetable oil, and 2 eggs. Bake them for the time and at the temperature suggested for the brownies
  • Mix the milk, 2 tablespoons Baileys, and brewed coffee in a small microwavable bowl. Microwave it roughly a minute, until it’s boiling. Let it cool to room temperature
  • Mix the butter and confectioners’ sugar and the butter. Next add the Bailey’s mixture and the vanilla extract.
  • Spread the frosting onto the brownies and enjoy!

Wine Bottle Vases

Recently we’ve been trying to be classy in my apartment and start drinking some wine. Mixed reviews on what’s good and what isn’t so far but we’re getting there. Now me being the hoarder I am, I wanted to save some of the wine bottles we’ve been finishing, I swore I’d find some way to use them, I just wasn’t sure how. The other day I was bored, and feeling crafty so I dug up the wine bottles and decided to do something with them once and for all.


The project I came up with is insanely is and it looks so cute! Here’s what I did:

  • Supplies: wine bottles, spray paint, paint and paint brushes
  • I used hot water to get the labels and the sticky stuff off of the bottles.
  • Once that was done I spray painted them silver with some spray paint I had, this part was a bit tricky since I didn’t want to touch the bottles and get spray paint all over me. I wish I had taken a picture for you guys, I literally put the bottle in the grass upright and moved around it with the spray paint, I can’t imagine what my neighbors thought.
  • Once that dried I free handed some lines onto the bottles, DON’T try using duct tape, I thought I’d be smart, give that a shot, not a good idea. If you have painter’s tape go for it, otherwise I freehanded it and it turned out ok.
  • Paint whatever you feel so inclined to paint on there. I did one with a few lines and one with just a bold one in the middle.
  • For decoration I stuck some fake flowers in them that I got from Michael’s for a dollar.

And voila you’re done! I told my roommates I would actually use those bottles!


Nutella Lava Cookies March 7, 2013

Recently there’s been a lot of snow here in Virginia. And I’ve gone a little stir crazy. Along with cleaning and watching a West Wing marathon I decided it was cookie making time! I found the recipe for these nutella lava cookies on pinterest and it was love at first sight. These were amazing right out of the oven! They were a little tiresome to make, the rolling got old quick but they were so worth it! Give them a try!



  • 1 cup butter
  • 1¼ cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups large semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • nutella for filling


  1. Preheat the oven to 350F.
  2. Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Blend in the eggs one at a time, scraping down the bowl as needed.
  5. Mix in the cocoa powder at low speed until well blended.
  6. Add the flour, salt and baking powder to the bowl and mix on low speed just until incorporated. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop up about 2 tablespoons of dough and roll into a ball. Flatten the ball in the palm of your hand and put in about 1/2 tbsp of nutella in the middle of the dough. Then wrap the edges around to form a ball and to cover the nutella completely. Place on the prepared baking sheets, and repeat process, placing balls about 2 inches apart. Bake about 13-16 minutes, until cookies are cooked and slide easily off of parchment paper. Serve while warm.

Baked Parmesan Tilapia

One of my favorite things about having fish for dinner is how quickly it thaws when it’s frozen. It is my go to whenever I’m running late, starving, and forgot to plan ahead. Normally I just throw some marinade on it, I found this recipe a few weeks ago and loved it! The original recipe called for thyme but I didn’t have any so I just used basil and oregano and it worked out fine!  Give it a try and tell us what you think:

Baked Parmesan Tilapia:


  • 1 tilapia fillets
  • 1 Tbspbutter (room temperature)
  • 1/4 clove mincedgarlic
  • 1/8 tsp basil
  • 1/8 tsp oregano
  • 1/8 cupParmesan cheese; grated


  1. Preheat oven to 400ºF.
  2. Put on a baking sheet (spray the non-stick spray first) and bake for 10-12 minutes (it doesn’t have anything on it right now, add salt and pepper if you want but I didn’t and it turned out fine)
  3. Mix the butter, garlic, basil, oregano and parmesan cheese together.
  4. Once the fish is done (my mom says fish is done when it’s flaky, so that’s the standard I use), spread the mixture over it and let it sit in the oven for another 3 minutes.

Salsa Chicken

This chicken recipe is a fun fiesta recipe! Alright I’ll stop the terrible puns now, but seriously though this chicken recipe is awesome. It was so full of flavor! This is my moms recipe so give it a shot with a side of rice or nachos!

– 1/4 pack of taco seasoning mix
-Shredded cheese (any blend)
1 chicken breast

-sprinkle the taco seasoning mix ontonthe chicken
-brown the chicken in a skillet for about 3 minutes on each side, this locks in the taco flavor.
-put the chicken in a pan and pour salsa over top
-place in oven and cook at 375 for about 30 minutes or unil the chicken is done.
-sprinkle cheese on top and put back in the oven for 3 minutes.

And you’re done! Enjoy!
